A fire extinguisher is a device used to put out or control small fires. There are 4 classes of extinguishers that put out different types of fires. A, B, C, and D.
Class A - Puts out ordinary flammables such as wood and paper.
Class B - For use on ignitable liquids like grease, gas and oil.
Class C - Are made for use on electrical fires.
Class D - Are made for burnable metals.
Some extinguishers will be labeled for more than one class.
To use a fire extinguisher, remember the word PASS
P = Pull the pin
A = Aim at the base of the fire from a safe distance.
S = Squeeze the handles together slowly
S = Sweep nozzle from side to side
